A Competitive Market Analysis (CMA) is the tool that REALTORS use to determine the market value of a home or investment property. Professional REALTORS will examine the market data from your immediate neighborhood, both in terms of homes sold and what is currently listed for sale to assist in determining your home's value.

Frequently homeowners confuse the CMA with an appraisal. Performed by a lending institution, an appraisal is the determination of the value of the home for lending purposes. It is helpful to note that a CMA is usually a more accurate reflection of the price that the recent market will bear for your home.
